Our dog, Clementine, enjoys eating bugs and rolling over dead frogs.
It took me forever to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. People would say, "Follow your passions," and I would think, Passions? I don't have any passions. I just sit around and read books. One day it finally dawned on me: Ohhhh ... BOOKS. BOOKS are my passion. That's when I started writing them.
I like creating my own stories, and I like sharing those of others, too. I've particularly enjoyed recording the childhood stories of other authors, first for my podcast and then for Play Memory, the resource Marcie Colleen and I have developed for middle-school classrooms (find out more here).
What else? I grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with two brothers and a sister, all of whom played and had friends while I did nothing but read books. I live in Brooklyn, New York, now, with my husband and two daughters and our dog, Clementine, who enjoys eating bugs and rolling over dead frogs.
